You shouldn't speak ill of the dead...

"I stayed with friends recently. They told me, "Sean, we want you to treat this house like it's your own.". So I sold it!"

'hang on I'll just turn down the Jazz!'

he was part of the 90s culture for me.

Ah what!? That's terrible. Always a big fan of his. His book The Detainees was damn funny too. Bit about a bloke getting out of the shower and farting always stuck with me. So funny.
RIP Sean 🙁

Awe, what a great comedian and from what I gather a jolly nice bloke.

Sad news, hope he's telling jokes where ever he rests..

Oh no. Don't tend to post on rip threads but this is a shock. Used to see him a lot in above pub venues late 80s. One of the funniest about. He'd drink/play pool occasionally in our local. (The George. As did Robson & Jerome, whatever happened to them.) Erm, that's it. Didn't know him but felt like I did because of his comedy.

His last words to me now ring truer than ever: "sorry John, I can't play pool with you right now". It'd be a slow game anyway.

I think he introduced me to alternative comedy (if that's the right expression) with Sean's Show but then just became ubiquitous with Buzzcocks - is that not on anymore?

Very sad. I remember seeing him do a gig in Manchester in the early 90s and it was the funniest 20 mins of comedy I'd seen at the time.

"I used to play football, nothing professional I played for Leeds!"

Sad news. I always thought he was really talented.

'I used to be in a gang in once, highly organised crime ......I used to take the minutes..

'Is that two 'T's in machete or just one?'

Shocking news, I had been wondering for a while what had happened to him. He's responsible for my love of all things Julian Cope lol. An outstanding talent 🙁

Sad. He seemed like a nice genuine chap.

A shame he went down the Buzzcocks route, he was a lot more talented than than your general 'comedian' doing the Buzzcocks/ Mock the Week/ 8 out of 10 Cats etc unfunny TV circuit.

I remember him (although I doubt he remembers me) after he worked the Christmas shows at a comedy club I worked at.

He was a genuinely intelligent guy. Very funny and interesting.

Very sad.

Saw him live a few times. Once he told me off for resting mt chin on my hand saying "Leave that posing for the deep stuff in the second half".

He wrote some good (imo) poetry too.

Sad loss.

Nice write up in the paper this morning, apparently in his latter years he'd become a teetotal vegan, sad end
