I have a Trangia stove which thought I'd look out and test before using in anger this weekend.

The burner has spilt spirit inside the kettle and now tastes foul.

Tried washing out with soapy water but not much improved...

Any handy hints to make tea taste terrific (sorry) again?

Fire, burn it with fire.

Or pop 'em on the gas cooker/in the oven for a bit now you've washed most of it off?

And, in future, don't use meths, use Ethanol fuel from these folks:

[we have an alcohol stove in our campervan, burning meths is eye-stingingly stinkingly foul, burning the ethanol is a lot, lot better]

it'll be the bitrex - presumably it's soluble in alcohol, such as IPA - rinse & wipse ?

Maybe you need to switch to a more refined tipple. The reviewers really rate this one for taste. Hic!
