Anyone had any luck?
Scratches aren't massively deep, but noticeable, and I'd like to sell my Touch.

Ta, Duane.

I used to use brasso on the plastic window on my old car and that worked a treat. Can't say i've tried it on anything like a phone though so I accept no responsibility!

That's probably not much help really...

It's toughened glass, you'll need something quite abrasive and probably make it worse. TBH for second hand kit folk will expect it not to be perfect, probably not worth the hassle/risk?

Please tell me your surname is Dibley?

I have heard people using toothpaste or Brasso of watch faces before.

It's toughened glass. There is nothing out there that you can use to polish scratches out with, short of the sort of polishing used on optical mirrors and custom optics, and that ain't an option. It is possible, however, to get screens replaced, and I don't think it's terribly expensive. There are even high street dealers who'll do it. Probably your best option. Google 'replacing iPod Touch screen' and you should get some hits.
My old iPhone 3G has several bad scratches caused by a rough end to a headphone jack that I'd taken out of the phone then put back into my pocket to stop it catching on anything. Toughened glass isn't scratch proof, just scratch resistant.

Rouge is good, even better is stuff called Liquid Diamond. We use it in work for lens' and windows that need a minor polish

Buy a replacement glass for about 30 quid. I'm considering doing the same thing myself

Not sure you could polish it out without ruining the screen.
Theres an article in the latest Focus magazine (just out) that says that capacitive touch screens have a semiconductor coating on them to function. Now I don't work for apple, but my guess is that polishing off this layer will NOT improve functionality.
