Hi,
Heres hoping the collective knolledge can help !
I'm Looking to set up a simple web site, i have the name registered and will sort the hosting but am at a loss as what programme will be best to build the actual web site, what with being a total novice !
Any tips greatly received.

Just stick with Wordpress, you only then need to worry about the visual layout (of which there are plenty of free designs available). If you decide to add more features to the site its also likely someone has already done a plugin for it.

Agree with Wordpress, just redone our website at work with it and a paid for theme, but theres loads of free ones available if you're not as fussy.

Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla... take your pick. It's hard to be more specific without knowing what your site is about and what you want to achieve with it.

You have hosting so this is less relevant but hosters usually have website building software. Some variants are good, others less so.

What you want to do will be very easy with a Wordpress template - it's what I use for mine

If its only 4 or 5 pages. I used this

The HTML will make much more sense then.

I've had people tell me of their pain in using MrSite (often they add a h to his name).

If you go down the Wordpress route (what we use for STW) be careful of installing themes from the web. Follow this advice
