Malmaison would be good. Greys hotel. Depends what you want to do and where you want to go. You could go to Jesmond but can be noisey.

The Hilton (actually in gateshead) is nice, with great views out over the quayside. The Copthorne is also meant to be nice.

Jesmond dene house, a mile from the city yet it fells like in a country house.
