Interesting subject..... but looking for a new conventional boiler.
Anyone got any suggestions/experiences?
Must have 30 kw output, currently heard good things about Worcester Greenstar.
Cheers
Do not touch a Baxi HE, whatever you do!
You can have my mother in law for free. Something like 1GW of hot air output.
Valiant. One of the best around.
Her name is Isabel, lives in Staines - I can guarantee she's an absolute bunny boiler! 😉
Second the comment about Baxi. I bought a Baxi bahama in 1999 and have had engineers out to it on at least five occasions, mostly to do with flow switches and pressure valve.
bosch Worcester owner here - expensive but totally reliable.
bosch Worcester,I have a mate that fits these and he says they dont give any problems as long as they are Installed correctley 😉
Worcester Bosch here. Greenstar 30CDi, its the dogs danglies.
Vailant! thats wot my boiler man says................nothing else just Vailant. 😯
Vokera Compact combi boiler here. Three heat exchangers, one circuit board and numerous other bits in six years. Not a good track record. Fortunately it's covered by the British Gas Homecare scheme otherwise it would have been very costly.
I just got the Worcestor Greenstar 30 - seems good so far. If you can get it fitted by a Worcestor Bosch dealer, I think the guarantee is for 5 years, as opposed to 2 when fitted by a normal dude.
vaillant or worcester wouldnt recommend anything else
worcester heatslave, never let me down and delivers in every way.
Second the comment about Baxi.... mostly to do with flow switches and pressure valve.
Funnily enough, thats whats wrong with mine (again), as well as pressure vessel (again). All in three years. It is now cheaper to fit a new boiler than fix this one.
Whats the definition of 'fit for purpose'?
Worcestor.
Baxi's are gash, excluding the 105 e/he
No an Ideal HE
Baxi's are gash, excluding the 105 e/he
Thats the model I have, and am about to bin after 3 years of breakdowns, poor performance and hassle...
which one Matt? A baxi 105he? You sure it's not a 130 or 133 HE. They really are gash.
Yep, 105HE.
My plumber(s) seem to agree that 80 or 105 HE are both duff models.
What's wrong with it like?
Only things that go on the 105he, is diaphragm, and front seal, easy job,
Pcb, thermisters and air pressure switch.
the pressure vessel wont hold pressure - and has no top up as it was designed to be a non serviceable item that never lost pressure.
Leaks around pump.
thermistors keep going.
Air gets in somewhere as well in the boiler (you can hear it when pump starts up)
The switch between hot water on/off is dickie (Again)
Matt, all Baxi pressure vessels can be pressurised, I done one about 3 hours ago. On a 105he it's down the back, just 4 screws lifts the plate off. If it's pinholed inside (the seal between the air and water), then it's either a new vessel on the back, or fit an external in the system somewhere.
worcester, my uncle is corgi registered, wont install anything else
worcester greenstar here. Bought it about 2 years ago. No issues.
I run it with a Danfoss wireless thermostat/controller. Very handy - stick it in a particular room and that becomes the temp to respond to. Having said that, it hardly ever goes out of the kitchen....
