As some may remember, I had terrible back problems about 18 months ago, to the point where I went to hospital by ambulance and stayed for 12 days while they MRI'd me then administered nerve blocks as I had 2 slipped disks.

Other than going to physio regularly for 8 months afterward and doing my exercised semi-regularly, I have been fine since. In fact, I have ridden my bike to work every day since February of last year.

Now today, I come home from work at 5:30ish, and notice that I have a bit of a cold coming on. My muscles are a bit stuff, and I feel really drained.

Worryingly, though, my lower back hurts worse than it has for more than a year, and the pain is emanating from the lumbar area of my spine. The thing is, whereas last time it began in a very definitely sciatica-like way, I don't have any numbness in my hips or down my legs.

By now, I have done my stretches and taken ibuprofen, but is it possible that my back has been provoked by an oncoming illness?

When my back injury flare up it's like living hell. Can't sleep, can't sit or walk properly ...

You should watch your posturing from now on as bad posture will make it worst. Check the body alignment as well to make sure.

sneezing? Pretty violent things, sneezes.

I can recommend a man, if you're in London.

Just for the sake of clarity, I was talking about about a particular back specialist, who's in London.

It wasn't a general recommendation that you go and find a man, but only if you were in London.

Good luck with the back.

I've just started yoga after it was recommended by another rider.
Got a fair sized history of broken limbs, back injury and torn soft tissue, so wanted to regain some lost flexibility and help prevent further injury.
Encourages good posture and reinforces stretches that you will have probably been taught by physio.

And obviously, there is a whole bunch of Milfs at these sessions, if that is your sort of thing.

@nedrapier

I was getting [s]excited[/s] worried there for a moment. Alas, I am in Cardiff.

@timber

Yoga is something I would not rule out.
