Ok, this is an annual rant but it seems to get worse every year.

I'm merrily going about my business in my local Sainsburys this evening when I come across the first isle - Christmas sweets and biscuits! Grrrrr. Then, at the other end of the shop, a whole display filled with Mince Pies, Christmas pudding and cake etc etc. AARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH. Why oh Why oh Why?

The local newsagent started selling cards last week - their excuse? "You might want to send one to friends/relatives abroad! - what, via Mark Beaumont?
THERE'S OVER A QUARTER OF THE YEAR LEFT. Lets just keep on wishing our lives away shall we?
It's not like I can avoid it - they're all doing it! They're even at it on the Radio - "phone now to book your boxing day party" Sob!

Not sure why but this REALLY gets my goat - you may have noticed!

Christmas used to be special - presents were only bought a few weeks before.....it always used to snow....Santa used to sing me to sleep.......I'm gong for a lie down!

On the upside, justice was served in Harrod's early attempt to jump start Christmas: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/09/22/harrods_santa/.

Or a friend in London. With the London strike, it might just make it there by Christmas (if you are lucky).

I saw the first signs of Christmas stuff three weeks ago. Ridiculous!

Oh god I'm sorry - I've become a victim, and the cause in the same day! 😐

Dougal - the scary thing is, the website crashed because it was so popular! 😯

work for a big hotel and restaurant chain who made us put our tree up in July a few years ago. Still, we need to advertise christmas in some trades to grab business early, and we do. If we dont then we're not seen as productive and sales orientated which is not looked upon favouritably by our share holders !!

We once saw some early Christmas food (I forget what it was, mince pies or something) in a supermarket that had a best before date in mid December.....

Co-op down the road has mince pies with mid October sell by date. Whatever.

I can't believe it's only September, and already there are posts moaning about the early start to Xmas....

Chocolate snowmen in our local Co-op for the past week now. My gf also concurs that is you want to send a card to SA then you'd better get a hussle on or it will not be there in time.

However the websites and comics are full of bike junk for 2010 and that is even further away so the supermarkets ain't too bad.

I work in retail and this really p@sses me off! There should be a law stating a launch date of November (Think of all the little kids that see this stuff and have little concept of time!)
By the time it's done with (January sale) we've been looking at the stuff for 4 months. There is a display in store currently selling little chocolate tree decorations that says 'Let it snow' FFS!!!! 😈
