Vans have a lower speed limit than cars (depending on type of van, type of road, etc)
Question is, does a speed camera 'know' what is a van/lorry and what is a car? Eg. If a van is doing 55mph on a road where a car can do 60mph and the van is limited to 50mph will the camera get the van?
Is the answer different depending on if it's a bog-standard gatso type or an average-speed type, which I assume uses number-plate recognition?
.
Thanks,

As far as I'm aware, speed cameras cannot differentiate, but a copper with a handheld unit can.

No - it'll snap everything that exceeds whatever limit they have it set to
I was told (on a cpc course) speed cameras have height sensors for hgv's.
As a lot of Vans are about the size of a 4x4 i don't think speed cameras can distinguish between them.
I've not heard of speed cameras being linked to anpr to distinguish vans/cars etc
camera vans actively target vans as many don't know/observe the alternate speed limits.
