I'm selling a wardrobe on eBay, some has contacted me asking if I have a buy it now price as they will pick up ASAP and pay cash. The user has plenty of feedback (452, 100% pos) but all feedback is private. I guess this means they just buy, not sell?

I'm a bit naive when it comes to eBay - is this sort of thing dodgy? I'd be happy to get rid to be honest, but I don't want scamming!

TIA 🙂

Sounds OK to me - once he's come round and paid (in cash at the doorstep, or previously with paypal), just end the auction.

They'd have a job getting it in that Ferrari!

Just tell them if they come round with the cash you'll remove the listing, then if they don't turn up it's not a problem.

It's the Ferrari that's bothering me 🙂

So I don't need to edit the listing or owt to keep within the "rules"?

Well, in theory you are going outside of the eBay 'rules' by accepting a cheeky bid outside of the auction.

If no-one is bidding already on your wardrobe then you could add a buy-it-now price and do it all legit, but to be honest I'd just do as everyone says, leave the auction running until you get cash in hand.

Though I do seem to remember you can't pull an auction 12 or 24 hours before the end so beware if you've only got a day or so left - someone might bid properly on the auction then leave you neg feedback if the wardrobe isn't available.

You can't pull the auction if you have any bids or within 24 hours of finish. The eBay way is to add a "buy it now option" but it will cost you 50p. Do be wary of bidders that pay via PayPal and want to collect as you need a proof of delivery in case it all goes pear shaped. If collected get a signature to say goods inspected and collected and maybe a picture of the buyer. Best to do cash on collection as that way save you the PayPal fee.
