The Canon S95 compact is down in price on Amazon to £199. Not quite cutting edge as is has been replaced by the S100 but gets great reviews. Compact enough for lightweight touring but capable of quality pics. I've been thinking of buying one for the last year. The price has hovered between £300 and £230. I doubt it will go much below £199 so I've bought one today.

As Drac says, it is a really useful site for tracking stuff on Amazon, and have it alert you when something you want drops to a price you desire.
ah, well I learn something new every day.
