In the hallowed ground that is the middle aisle of Lidl are things to behold
Reflective running jackets, like pro viz for 18 pound. Ok not cycle specific so not dropped tail or mesh liner, pit vent etc but would serve for a city commute.
Plus paniers, in reflective material which looked serviceable
I bought a 23ltr rucksack for £9 with reflective outer amd straps as i felt i would get more use from it.
Also dayglo mitts, led headtorchers, polyprop base layers,
Kids pro viz quilted jackets, ideal for a country lane walk to or from school
Lidl quality, its not gonna last a lifetime but a few seasons fo shure.
Que the usual. If its not the most expensive, best thing in the world, im ooot.

Only one of those things is usually requisite, the other is a rare but happy coincidence.

Their panniers are pretty good, we got some a few years ago and they're still going strong.

I think they changed the pannier design from the original bombproof (ortlieb'esque material) to an inferior style. The originals circa 2007 were awesome.

I popped down a moment ago to pick up one of those running jackets but couldn't see any, in my haste i'd gone to Aldi instead. They had waterproof hi-viz jackets with dropped tail, mesh liner & pit vents in stock. they were marked up as £9.99 but rang through the till at £3.99 which is a bit of a bargain

Gah.

Winter 2019 MrsDoris got me a ProViz jacket for Xmas. Was the thick end of £100. 2 months later I got long COVID and haven't ridden my bike since.

Sigh....

wife has picked up one of the long sleeved base layers. Feels really nice, has a soft natural feel to it like merino. I'll get one myself or borrow hers.

I'm not sure that the preview still on that video doesn't count as evading the swear filter @midlifrcrashes 😉

If you're after cheap hi-viz BTR

I got a very cheap (sub 20) reflective vest for commuting. Pretty thick, seems very well made and from memory large vents.
