Never use IE, haven't done for years. Firefox is way superior IMO.

There are more holes in IE than a 3km sein net. Anyone who insists on using it when there are other far superior alternatives deserves everthing they get. I stopped using IE over ten years ago, before the more recent security issues came to light.

I've been a firefox user for years, had a quick dabble with Chrome but never got into the habit of using it. Had another go last week and I'm giving it another go, it devotes much more space to content rather than taskbars etc, even compared to firefox.

IE is a dog with two gammy legs.

I use Safari, way quicker.

I'm sure there are other, and possibly quicker/better/safer browsers out there, but Safari works for me

I was waiting for Chrome to settle down, being a new browser & all, but it looks OK. TBH I find Safari the fastest, but somewhat lacking in add-on's, I use IE because I love IE7 pro, it make things simple.

Cheers.

+1 Also.

Shame really, using a Mac and 3 years ago or so Firefox was brilliant. Loaded nice and quickly and had the option to block ads etc. In the last year tho it has just become a proper lardy piece of crap so gone back to Safari.

I use IE8, IE7, IE6, Firefox and Chrome on Windows, and Safari and Firefox on a Mac on a daily basis thanks to work.

They're all shit bloated pieces of software.

Recently had some Malware get into my PC (not quite sure how, but it reminded me again why I prefer Mac's) that for some strange reason would open loads of popups in IE8...

I use Firefox exclusively!!!

Popups are infuriating at the best of times, so I do whatever I can to make sure my computer is safe and free from them. But it confused the hell out of me the other day, when whenever I would click to open a link inside of Firefox, some random link trying to get me to buy viagra, or enlarge my cock or something, would mysteriously appear in an IE8 window!

Fortunately, Malware Bytes sorted it out pronto though...

Firefox here too (+ Safari on the iPhone) Not used IE in years, though IE8 does look a healthy step in the right direction.

Don't really find firefox particularly bad for memory, but clearly some do.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Opera. I have been using for about a year and find it way superior to IE and somewhat better than Firefox. Have used Chrome but don't like it!

Yip, mainly been using Opera for around 7 or 8 years now.
recently used Firefox a little. but still prefer Opera - find it strange when using other browsers and not having the mouse gestures

Firefox on my Gentoo PC and Laptop (Ubuntu, pfffft) 😉

I've tried a few other browsers now and again, but keep coming back to FF. The problem with lightweight browsers I find is that we run so much stuff through the web these days they tend to be limited in some way, and FF has so many brilliant extensions available it makes up for the little bit of bloat.

chrome is good, but if you need to view pdf on a weblink in a web browser window, it spits the dummy out....

Safari for me (OS X)

Unfortunately we can't use any other browser than IE at work, so I'm stuck with google links redirecting to random pages thanks to some unremovable adware/spyware/virus/trojan/thingthatisntaproblemonmymac.

IE does seem to have a lot of security holes in it, and its popularity means it is targetted more by hackers and virus writers.

Other browsers offer better features: some of which IE is only just catching up with (like tabbed browsing and built-in searches) and some it still doesn't have (like advert blocking, mouse gestures etc)

agreed, and from what I've seen, the developers are unsympathetic, claiming you just have it configured wrong, though all my attempts to reduce memory usage have been inefective. However, it's such a good analytical tool for website development I'd rather buy more RAM than dump it 🙂

Safari.

and LOL at the term "incognito mode" being used to describe a google product!

Chrome generally but IE8 for the stuff Chrome can't cope with (mostly on MS sites surprisingly :p ).

Not used IE for years. Been on FF as Chrome is too flakey. FF on vista seems to be a mem hog (missus machine manages to take half a gig just to view 3 sites with flash?!) but on this machine I've got the same 3 sites with flash open and I'm running at 120mb which is odd. I've just moved up to 4 gig on the home machine so no real problems with it having a bit. Chrome doesn't run half the stuff it should (or it didn't at my last check) and doesnt seem to render pages as you'd expect in all cases.

Either way, I've not run IE for a while.

The thing that concerns (although doesn't surprise) me most is that ANYONE still uses IE as their main browser - not because it's inherently bad, but because of over a decade of constant security flaws exposed by concerted attacks. I think the German Govt's steps to publicise this are sensible and others should be following.

I've never used IE as my primary browser - and I'm quite happy at the moment with Safari on my apple stuff, Seamonkey on my linux machine and firefox on my work PC....
