Carry on.
Has been, but as a tangent to a different topic. Ordered mine this morning! 🙂
Just ordered. Ta very much.
Arse just had mine delivered for £35 (albeit a £5 voucher back)
Not really complaining as it's very good though
Bought one a few days ago for £35.. messaged amazon last night and got a £10 part refund
Is it anything like a Chrome Cast?
Yes..
Theres a side by side comparison of chromecast and firestick at the bottom of this page..

Share whatever is on your screen, including movies, TV shows, music and photos from your compatible tablet or phone
Can't find the list of compatible tablets or phones.. anyone know where it is? Or is it just Amazon Fire stuff?
Are they in stock at the moment, and anyone got any idea when the offer is going to expire?
In stock on June 5, 2015
Mine should be on my desk today, apparently. Sounds like they ran out yesterday.
They're good. It's not mentioned anywhere, but it does HDMI-CEC (which is called all sorts of things by the manufacturers - basically controlling over the HDMI cable) if your TV supports it. Which means you can ditch the little bluetooth remote and just use your TV one instead.
Don't suppose these work with house WiFi do they?
What else would they work with?

Wholly impartial, I'm sure. (-:
Worth noting is that the Chromecast is 'just' a media header, and relies on your PC / phone / whatever to do the heavy lifting. The Fire has all the apps you're using installed on it and does all the work, so whilst the Fire is much higher spec hardware, it needs to be a higher spec by definition because of the way it works.
What else would they work with?
Android, iOS and other compatible devices. I wondered whether they only worked with portable devices. I know nothing about these things, so sorry to sound ****ing stupid.
Is this as simple as it says? £25 gets me a plug in stick enabling loads of free TV, uses my WiFi to do it, and I have no subscription charges?
An in addition, I could plug it into my TV, watch its content streamed onto my ipad and by virtue of Mrs K selecting a different input source she could be watch "My 600lb life" on Sky whilst I'm doing so?
Whats the catch?
I think the biggest advantage this has over Chromecast is that it has a dedicated remote controller, whereas Chromecast was dependent on what version of Android your phone was running.
All I wanna know is can I use the 'flick' thing with an iPad!
Whats the catch?
If you don't cancel the Amazon Prime sub after the free months you'll be paying £10 a month. I suppose their idea is that people will forget, or will have found enough things they like about Prime, to keep paying for it.
I think the "free tv" - and music - is either stuff that's already free e.g. iPlayer, youtube, etc, or TV/music that you've already paid for, e.g. Netflix, Amazon prime/instant movies, Spotify. It's just an easier, quicker, more reliable format than wiring up your laptop or tablet to do the same.
My laptop's always played audio with a bit of a lag from the video (and the fan makes a racket) so I'm looking forward to trying this.

We already have a Chromecast and I'd say the firestick is much betterer, Chromecast won't do amazon prime content, and essentially just takes streaming instructions from your other devices (Phone/tablet/laptop)... plus ours hangs/crashes now and then...

My love-film sub' got turned into a £5/month prime sub' when they were subsumed and has remained so, it's worth it for prime video alone, but apparently I can get some other discounts of stuff... I think they view it at a bit of a loss leader as they get a few quid extra for the odd film rental out of us too now and then.
Firestick turned up on Saturday morning, not had much of a chance to play with it yet, but so far it seems really good.
chromecast app on my phone seems to be able to see it, not tried the amazon fire remote apps yet.
Oh and Enable parental controls on the firestick if you have kids, my five year old is an instant fan and would merrily have spent a fortune over the weekend....
I could be tempted to buy a 2nd for the other telly and ditch the chromecast TBH...
My mate has got an android TV box that seems to do all this and he's picking up loads of films and sport.
Is this a similar idea does it do other things?
There's all sorts of boxes and dongles about, the Amazon FireTV ones are essentially their proprietary version of android, preloaded onto their devices and geared mainly towards 'helping' the customer consume amazon, and a few other selected, free and paid for content sources. there are some more open source alternatives and I believe the FireTV products can have XBMC and other stuff loaded to open up yet more options for content.
It's pretty slick in terms of setup and operation and all you really need is Broadband with Wifi (Probably best to be on an unlimited, 20mbs+ connection)...
