So, following on from a thread about some problems I'm having with a builder, I asked for the guarantees for the work done by contractors and 3rd parties, roof, windows and screed floor, naver got anything. I have a leak in the roof and asked him to contact the company to come and deal with it, he wanted to look at it himself but then said he would get his roofer to look at it, I asked if the roofer was from the company that did the roof, he said yes. Going on previous experience I doubt he's telling the truth and might just be someone he knows to come and do a quick bodge job. Do I have a right to insist the original roofing company comes to deal with it, I don't want someone else to mess with it which might invalidate any future guarante, or will that be seen as unreasonable as he's trying to sort out the problem? I,m 99.9% sure I should insist with original roofers, but it's likely thingss will end up going to court so don't want to appear unreasonable?

if the builder took the cheque from you he's responsible not the lads who did the work. frankly by offering to put it right hes being pretty fair.

If I were you and given the circumstances I'd be asking for him to put in writing what the issue is and what they propose to do to solve it *before they start work* and to subsequently confirm that they did what they said they were going to *in writing* after it's done.
