From a UK perspective I'm not necessarily a republican , in some ways I like the history of it all and would be sad to see them go but it's clear that people involved with the royals knew what he'd been up to and the queen used her or possibly our money to try and make it go away . They almost certainly had their suspicions - his nickname was "Randy Andy" BITD for gods' sakes - and I would be very surprised if (just like a couple of other high-profile other organisations) their actions were anything other than to bury it as much as possible. Windsor money buys a lot of shovels. But the true extent of the misadventures of Epstein's merry bunch of Untouchable Shaggers must surely have been contained to their inner circle, dragging young women interstate to where the age of consent is lower is not the sort of thing you go running your mouth off about. Isn't part of being Royal the ability to keep your mouth shut at all times? No-one needs to know. Hell, normal families can hide all sorts of indiscretions, affairs etc, I imagine when you live in a world where your every public move is in the papers you probably develop quite the ability to be discreet when required.
Shedloads of cash and a veneer of respectability always helps hide these things too.

For the first bit I suspect quite high since question is why take action now? Either it did take them time to work through the legalities/payoffs in response to the recent set of revelations or they are taking action ahead of a new set. Dont think I would put any money either way.

Spent too much time in the car listening to R4 this afternoon....speculation that Charlie didn't want to go to parliament to change the succession because he didn't want the deep dive into royal finances that would ensue.
My question is - why should he be allowed to make that decision, surely that is a call that the govt should make, and if they're hiding something (if...as if) it should be brought into the light....
