Advice please!
I’ve been asked by my mum to suggest a nice pub with accommodation in the Peak District.
We live in the peak, so haven’t ever had cause to book a nice place
its a family trip for my dad’s birthday, I slightly shudder to use the word “boutique” but thats kinda what we are looking at.
not tied to any part of the peak. My initial thoughts were something in hathersage, or possibly around the calver area but looking for inspiration really..
So has anyone stayed somewhere with lovely rooms and great food??!!

The ultimate would be Fischer's at Baslow Hall.
The Devonshire Arms in Beeley is also fancy (it's part of the Chatsworth Estate).
Hmmm, I've not stayed there & I am not sure you could call it boutique - I suppose it depends on individual taste, but I had a fab meal in the Little John Hotel in Hathersage a year or so ago after a ride with some other STW members.
Food & beer was great & it was a nice atmosphere. It would definitely be on my list of somewhere to try in that neck of the woods.
They have a couple of cottages as well as rooms.
The H Boutique Hotel in Bakewell is good and has the advantage (or disadvantage based on your view point) of being right in the centre of town. The restaurant is good too.
The Crescent in Buxton, in the general area whilst not specifically Peaks, looks like it should be nice but haven't stayed. Also has the (dis)advantage of being town centre.
Same here, too close to ever need to stay, but I used to work with a guy who would take his wife to the George Inn Castleton every year without fail, so they must have liked it.
Yorkshire Bridge Inn, Bamford.
Not stayed there but had a couple of really good meals there. It's right on Ladybower Res so easy access to walks over on Win Hill, Bamford Edge and Fairholmes.
Oh .... The George in Hathersage is also a great hotel and the Maynard Arms in Grindleford used to have a good reputation.
Also stopped in The Peacock in Rowsley a few years ago and that was lovely too.
The Blind Bull in Little Hucklow is our favourite eating-out place. I think they do accom too.
The inlaws stayed at the Cavendish in Baslow the last time they visited and they like their luxury, so I suspect that fits the bill too.
This was good enough for Tom Cruise recently!! 🙂

+1 for the old hall in chinley. rooms at the pub and the sister pub across the road (the papermill) and some self catering accom as well
food at the old hall is always really good and there's a good selection of beers between the two pubs, beautiful old building as well, not stayed in the rooms (as live in the village) but have friends who have and said they are lovely - photos on below link look good

Same! Was booked in with a work visit. A step up from a Travelodge!
Always liked the Chequers Inn just under Froggatt Edge.

The Old Hall in Chinley, and the Peacock in Rowsley have been done a good few times.
The Cavendish in Baslow may have what I was thinking about when I said Calver area. I shall have a nosey around your suggestions!
Had a great stay at the Devonshire Arms in Beeley at the tail end of last year. Superb food, room and atmosphere. This has reminded me that I need to return there 😀
I can heartily recommend The Maynard in Grindleford. We stayed there in November to meet friends and the food was great. The rooms were very nice too and the staff were all excellent.
I think the food is a lot better than Old Hall in Chinley (my brother lives nearby and been there a good few times )
I was going to say either the Blind Bull or the Maynard. The Maynard is bigger and busier but still very nice (I got married there last year so might be biased).
The George in hathersage has closed for the time being.. flood damage apparently.
The Devonshire in Beeley and the Maynard look good..!

The Anglers in Bamford is nice, a community run pub and doesn't get as many tourists as Yorkshire Bridge or the Ladybower.
The Queen Ann at Hucklow is worth a look.
Also, The Bull in Foolow does excellent food and has rooms (not stayed there).
One to avoid is The Barrel Inn, Bretton. It's okay but they think they are a 5 star hotel and the staff are as miserable as they are aloof. They charge you about £2 for a glass of tap water ! That says it all really
If you are in the area Stella's Kitchen is certainly worth going to for something very different to a pub lunch
