how much can I expect to pay for a large room to be plastered, the walls are really rough at the moment and there are large areas where the original platers is coming off. It also needs alot of work around a window as there are a couple of holes to the ouside and it all really needs taking back to the brick and re doing round that area. I have had a quote from a mate who will do a really good job and be tidy etc but its not his main trade so he may not be too fast. He thinks it will take a couple of days and cost around £320 inc materials. does this sound alright or is he havin a larf? cheers for any advice.

Trying getting a few quotes from Yellow pages -they'll all be different.

They haven't got much work on either so haggle away...

I pay £140 a day per plasterer.

A gang of two can do a medium sized room in a day.
For a large room Id budget 4 man-days.

Sounds about right but alot depends on how much prep is needed, sometimes that can take as long and final finishing coat.
