New phone time and I'm almost certainly looking at a Pixel 10 but can't figure out whether the extra camera controls and bigger camera sensors are actually worth the extra cash.
I'm not an avid photographer (and being colour blind makes some of this academic 😃) but there doesn't seem to be much difference in specification otherwise.
Anyone with a Pixel 10 who is dissatisfied with the camera?
Long shot: has anyone with a base Pixel 10 installed the ProShot app which claims to add some of the manual controls the Pro model has?
If it helps at all I just debated 10a versus 10 and the battery life was the big differentiator for me with those two, but IIRC 10 an 10 pro are the same battery wise.
It is a really tricky one as we all tend use phones differently :/ I still use mine mostly to talk to people 🙂

I picked up a 9 Pro on a dafty cheap offer.
IIRC 9Pro camera is better (zoom), has thermometer, more RAM and cheaper, while the 10 has faster charging less ram less good screen and a fancier processor that's 'ai optimised' more (whatever the hell that is'. I can't tell any speed difference in use. I do notice my camera is better.
I remember looking at the 10pro being so much more for a zoom on the camera as main difference you would notice, and then thinking that the 9pro was superior to the 10.....
And my 9pro is £12.99/mth with huge allowance from Talk Mobile.
I have a 9Pro, wife has a 9.
The Pro lever does take better photos & has better zoom, I was surprised how often I use the bigger zoom.
So probably worth it if you can afford it.
The 10 and the 10 Pro both have a 5x optical zoom but the 10 allows 20x digital zoom whereas the 10 Pro allows 100x digital zoom.
I'm not convinced that (a) digital zoom is actually worth it (cos I could zoom and crop in Photoshop how ever much I wanted anyway) and (b) Im sceptical that 100x digital zoom would actually to usable....
Thing is, the 10 Pro has much bigger sensors though...

The pixel 10 main sensor are slightly downgraded from the pixel 9 ( it uses the pixel 9a ones) which means it's less good in low light. I didn't realise this when I bought mine
I don't think the 5x zoom quality is great so barely use it. The standard photos don't look any better quality than the pixel 8 I had before, and are possibly a bit more over processed.
The ai stuff is another gimmick for me.
On balance, I wish I'd gone for the 10 pro (or even the 9 pro) instead, but couldnt justify the price hike. If the difference was more like £100 , I'd get the pro.
I've an 8pro and I'm genuinely surprised at the quality of the digital zoom. It's nowhere near as crap as it sounds.
