Great caterpillar pic, and I'm so envious of the sparrowhawk/crow pic.

Elifin - On't canal in Leeds round Burley way. I wouldn't exactly say it was beautiful though (but I really like all those crappy areas with a bit of inustrial history).

Creg - same tree no? Near Kirkham Priory? I might be wrong!

Oh my.

I may be coming up to the North in a few weeks, to visit a friend in the beautiful city of Bradford. I think I'll have to make a special visit to the canal. You see, I too am fond of such industrial decay.

Elfin, if you're a fan of that sort of stuff then it's a lovely walk/ride down that stretch of the canal from Kirkstall down into town. Loads of interesting things down there. My favourite bit is probably the huge substation between Kirkstall and Armley - this is next to the Canal on a service road which runs parallel to it. No pics sorry - need to get down there one night - looks great all lit up.

here

It's also worth checking out Eastmoor Campus up in Adel. It's an old Borstal which has been deserted - looks like a ghost town. Nature is rapidly reclaiming it - very eerie.
here

If you're taking the bike then I can put you together a nice route which links them together - let me know.

Weismeis, Switzerland, last week. Nothing technically difficult, but looks pretty hardcore. There was lots of avalanche debris and serac fall also ladders in place over some cravasses, but mostly low grade walking to a great height type stuff.

Sounds ridiculous, but I've only really just started using (simple) photo editing software! It really is striking how much better some sensible cropping can make a photo!
Case in point...
[img] [/img]

Remove the boring sky and foreground and you really focus the attention...

I was pretty pleased with this shot as I managed to get the timing just about right & I'm not sure the rider would have been too pleased to have to do it all again 🙂
