Thank you, how did you do that?

Just copied the bbcode from the Flickr 'share' dialogue (I'm on a laptop - it's a bit fiddlier from a phone or tablet).

Colournoise, are you pasting the bbcode as a comment or putting it in the share image box ?

I used to be able to share from flickr but not since the forum update

sofaking, try this:

On desktop browser, go to your Flickr image and click the 'Share' icon. In the box, click BBCode and select 800x640 in the drop down. Highlight/select the code that is generated, copy it and paste it somewhere you can read it all. The important part is the farm5.staticflickr address, which will be in [ IMG ] brackets. Cut out the https to jpg part between the brackets and paste that into the 'Insert/Edit Image' box in STW. When you've pasted it in, click into the 'Image Description' box below - the dimensions field should now populate. Click 'OK' and your image will appear in the post box. When the post is published, there's no link to Flickr or any title text, but your image will (should!) show on the thread page...

Nice stuff, back on top form from Polarisandy and Getee.

Edit. Just saw the guy in the stairs photo. Not too keen on that. Possibly too many 70s dungaree'd festival nightmares.

Thanks Eddie - I am always in awe of Andy's work, particularly those that doument the lives of rural people.

Edit. Just saw the guy in the stairs photo. Not too keen on that. Possibly too many 70s dungaree’d festival nightmares.

LOL, I quite understand. It was a moment in Earls Court Tube Station that I couldn't let pass but it turned out that he was/is an aspiring actor so the result ended up looking like a fashion shoot. I can see that won't be to everyone's tastes.

I just found out that this entry to the Taylor Wessing prize has made it through to the final round of judging.

The excitement was short lived. I didn't get selected for the exhibition, which was what I was holding my breath for. There were 4500 entries afrom around 2000 photographers and 341 photographs were taken through to the final round of judging.

It is at times like these that I remind myseldf that don't take photographs for competitions or recognition. Those things are nice but they are not the motivation.

This is the motivation:

This, not because it is great art, but it is a reminder of the sweat and fear it took to get a 70 year old rod-brake bike to this point on part of the HT550 trail.

It’s been a long time since I last posted anything, since Photobucket effectively went tits-up, and I’ve never been able to get Flickr to work on a mobile device, but thanks to someone suggesting Postimage, I can put up one or two. Took this one last weekend, at Morgan’s Hill near Calne, the far horizon is the line of the Cotswolds looking towards Stroud.

Oh, and taken with my old iPhone 6+, its all I had with me.

Love that portrait Andy.

The good thing about infrared photography is being able to shoot away in bright sunlight - no waiting for golden hour...

Oh, and GT, great job on the shortlisting - impressive stuff.  The Taylor Wessing comp always gets dissed by pro photographers saying things along the lines of, "Pfft, coulda taken that shot of a moody girl with my mobile..."  The obvs response is, "But you bloody didn't, did you?!"

Our sunflowers are coming out now, and bumblebees are all over them, spotted this one with its head and legs covered in yellow pollen. Taken with my phone.

It's interesting Andy, that while I quite like your pure environmental and landscape work, I am always so much more inspired by your portraiture. That shot of the boy wshing the horse is utterly sublime; so sensitive and poignant and the lighting is fabulous. I guess the thing I admire most about your talent is your versatility; it makes me think I might be a bit of a 'one trick pony' if you'll pardon the horse reference.

Anyway, I am currently on holiday on the island of Guernsey and have been exploring similar themes here as I do at home. Quite by chance I came across a group of baby boomers swimming at high tide on the beach the other day; they are the self titled 'Silly Old Farts' swimming club, an informal but enthusiastic collective and quite the most fabulous bunch of people I've had the good fortune to meet. I was only able to photograph two of them but this one is among my favourite portraits I've taken.

I love her serene beauty and the swimming cap is just lovely!
