Who is good? Got an android Samsung on virgin that needs doing.
Paid someone on the web £5 for a code which surprise, surprise they couldn't do. Got to wait 5 days for a refund.
Recommendations please.

Have you spoken with Virgin? I recently got my Vodafone iPhone unlocked by them for free. EE want £25 to unlock my wife's, but Virgin may do it for free.

Did you call them up or go in the shop?

I got a code from eBay for my wife's HTC. I think it cost just over a quid.

I filled out and submitted an online form. A few days later I received an email with some instructions telling me to reset my phone and that was it, though I got no positive confirmation from Vodafone or the phone itself that the phone had been unlocked so I wasn't sure it had worked. I stayed with Vodafone for about another 4 months before I finally got myself sorted out with a GiffGaff SIM and had no problems with the switch over.

Ring Virgin.

Why people keep giving money to these back street hoorays is beyond me.

Actually, why providers keep locking phones (or are allowed to) is beyond me.
