I'm just checking, I'm probably being stupid here: Should you have to pay to return a faulty item to the seller?

I ordered one of the chinese T6 lights from ebay a couple of months ago. It has developed a fault and I need to return it but it'll cost about £20 to get it back to China.

So should I have to pay?

The other option was for me to pay £20 to him for him to send a new battery and charger out.

Seems quite normal and fair enough to me. You could always buy them from a UK supplier and remove these charges.

No legal rights with chinese bought goods.

I would say its unfair but without any legal rights there is little you can do

I haven't got in touch with ebay about it yet. This was just from talking to the seller

If you buy from a shop you'd expect to have to take it back to the shop. Why do people think mail order should be different (and it's probably cheaper - a few quid to drive to the nearest town, money to park, time it takes)

How does it cost £20 to ship back to china? It's around a tenner to send a kilo there by royal mail air. Only an extra fiver for airsure, though, the standard insurance would cover you anyway.
