Need a PA system to give out info at an event and play a few tunes. It doesn't have to be "'owt mega".

Will a cheapo 600W job do the trick?

Cost is very much a factor.

Are you trying to announce to a big field? or just a small maarque?

I think 600W should be fine for 30 yards but the more wattage the more attention you will get. at the Big Bike Bash 2000W was about right and that was a similar sized audience.
