Asking for a mate, any recommendations for an outdoor security camera with Night Vision and recording facility?
We were on nights last night when his Mrs rang in at 0145 saying the doorbell had just rung and when she went downstairs there was a ner-do-well peering in the front window who came out with “can you help me I’ve got troubles” before climbing back in his tatty transit and driving off when they’re dog started barking.
He’s already got a Nest system and is looking at the Nest external camera, are the any others to look at?
Has he got power to it? I'd go for the Nest if I had easy cable runs, but obviously you have ongoing subscription charges.
Just bought a Blink XT from Amazon, battery powered and image quality seems very good for what I need it for (overlooking the garage). Usefully it also has a bright LED when the motion detector is triggered and there's no monthly subscription.
Only issue I can see is that the camera is easily stealable and unless you have the motion detection on 24 hours it might not get an image of the person who took it.
Mainly as a deterrent TBH.
