Not sure how I feel about this....
My boss has a few direct reports inc myself. Each direct report has a small team reporting into them. Org change means that boss gets another role and takes one of his direct reports with him into his new and leaves the others to report into his replacement - which now has a less broad scope.
My team lead title will go and I have been guided that I will become part of a reduced team reporting into my boss replacement. My role delivery will remain broadly similar. So likely that some of my current team will go. Decisions being made higher up chain....
TBH I've been knocked a bit by this and whilst I'm happy to keep a job - at the time being anyways - and have been advised no reduction to terms, etc I'm feeling bad as someone who currently works for me might be out of work sometime soon. 🙁
Guess no option but to accept it and see how my future boss plays things.... However it does make me uncomfortable about the future.
All within an industry which is shedding many, many jobs at the moment....

Having experienced and observed similar in the past, then I think that this is not unusual. The fact you have had 'the nod' indicates that someone believes you are doing some positive things - potentially more than others.
You mention your existing team might be negatively impacted. I've been made redundant at the same time as some of my then team. I felt bad about them and myself, but you can only worry about yourself ultimately.
At the end of the day, many decisions are outwith your hands therefore all you can do is go with things and make your own decisions as things play out. I've recently learned that you can worry too much about things and it can negatively impact current stuff.
If you keep a job the great but keep assessing other opportunities....
