can anyone recomend a shopping cart provider that does not require a merchant account, or am i stuck with paypal?

Surely you need some kind of merchant account - even if it is one provided by your bank.
The HSBC one is meant to be particularly hateful though.

not necesarily, paypal do a cart solution that pays into your paypal account but its pretty limited in features for postage costs - at least i can't figure out how to make it do what i want.
i had a look at romancart, which you can use with paypal, but 150yr and at the moment i just want to test the water.
