I have a photo I want to print for my Dad's birthday - its just taken on a camera phone, but in bright natural lighting and it looks good and sharp; its 4032 x 3024 pixels.
I'm going to get it printed online; in the past I've not been that impressed with Jessops. There are some that seem to be offering higher quality prints - are they actually higher qualty?
Any reccommendations for places to use?
Any idea what sort of size a pot that big could be printed at and not look pixelated?
Cheers!
have a look at whitewall.com - every up to professional studio quality prints on top grade papers
Magazine quality is @300dpi = 341mm x 256mm.
But if it's for a picture you could go lower. @240dpi = 426 x 320mm, would defo be fine.
Could probably go as lower if you want to push it quite far, but I wouldn't go much further than @180dpi = 568 x 426mm
Obviously bigger you get and closer to the image you are, more rough it'll look.
If you want to go bigger, you could run the image through adobe super resolution, which is ok, say it doubles the pixel count through machine learning alogorithms, but I'd double it then reduce it by 75% if you want to go down that route, results may various depending on source. Previous ideas on DPI would then apply again.
LoxleyPrint are very good.
Peak Imaging in Sheffield - recently compared to another lab that was well rated on dpreview by sending the same image to both. Peak Imaging win hands down.
It's hard to say how it will look printed. You have lots of pixels but phone photos some times have artifacts or flat areas that look less good enlarged. A good way to judge the outcome is to print a small section at the enlargement you want. This would require basic photo editing skills. Happy to explain in more detail if you want to try it
I've used these people before for canvasses, they do normal prints too. Very happy with them.

Dscl lustre is v good. Loxley also but spendier
Good advice above about sizes from seosamh77 and quality from ampthill. Loxley and Dscl are both well regarded.
Print quality will vary depending on printer used, I use both a Mitsubishi dye sub printer and a canon pro-4000 12 colour printer that uses pigment ink ... the difference is night and day to me but most of my customers wouldn’t notice the difference and are happy with the (cheaper) results from the little Mitsubishi for smaller prints.
Whitewall. 'Lightjet print on Fujiflex high gloss' is staggeringly breathtaking
Also ThePrintSpace London are a lovely company who do very high end print. And if you're in that part of the world you can go into their studio
