Yeah, I know it's from the Daily Mail, but this fictional account of escalation and retaliation is pretty terrifying.

Started to read then got bored! Sorry. It seems a pretty evenly balanced fight so I reckon if it kicks off for real we should for once keep our noses out! Think that'll happen? Mmm I doubt it!

It will kick out, Britain and USA will get involved as will Russia and China (probably on the other side). It'll be messy.
OR
The North will change its leaders and remain as it is for another half a century or so.

Used to work in South Korea.

Once a term the school had to do a local (national) nuclear attack training and listen to some recording of what to do.

The towns would stop, cars would be stationary during it, great it was.

I'm strongly in favour of subsidising N.Korea, giving them food, assisting them in the maintenance of their utilities etc etc

The cost to the developed world would be utterly insignificant, and if it keeps the lid on the 'instant sunshine' canisters, so much the better.

I wonder whether the Chinese are regretting propping up this particular regime for so long?

Ain't no way Russia's going to get involved. The imminent - albeit protracted - collapse of the Euro is sending Europe spiralling into disarray on one side, and there's potential of China & US going at it on the other. Should this all kick off, Russia just has to sit back and do nothing then pick up the pieces afterwards.

To be honest, I doubt anything's going to happen for a while yet. The US will wimp out of the planned "war games" for the sake of regional stability, which will defuse things for a while. Best Korea will see this is as weakness on US/SK's part, and carry on acting the dick. China will outwardly huff and puff and look disparagingly at Best Korea, whilst inwardly laughing at how much its little lapdog infuriates the West. Reddo ad nauseum...
