Watched it on Amazon boxing day.
I enjoyed it for what it is and yes, needed a toilet & drink break, so glad I wasn't at the cinema. 😁

Saw it Chrstmas day. Best Bond since the second Casino Royale so at least Daniel Craig went out on a high after wasting his time and collecting millions in between. Maybe its an age thing but woke Bond just doesn't work for me. Surely the well has now run dry and its best to leave him in the 60s and 70s and move on.

Daniel Craig has been a great Bond but I don’t think I can forgive him burying him - totally egotistical behaviour where he believed he was bigger than the franchise. Sure, every change of star entails a reboot but it has never entailed a resurrection.

Yep really irked me that they had to kill Bond, after 30 years and numerous actors stepping into the role. Seemed a tad arrogant.

Only bits I really liked was the db6 in the square and the Cuban agent who was well under utilised.

I think it went up it’s own arse with the homages and totally lost the plot.

Well that was 2 hrs and 40 mins I’m never going to get back. Ludicrous plot and unbelievable scenes, made it a dismal experience. Plus, he looked soo old!

You've not seen a Bond film before, I take it?

Pretty disappointing I thought. Craig was a great Bond, but I think the films have got steadily worse since Casino Royale. I liked that CR was kind of smaller stakes, no shadowy worldwide organisation or baddies with huge secret bases and plans to take over the world But every film since CR they've been steadily marching back towards that and I think they've been worse for it.
Craig did a good job of making the character more of a whole person and the stuff about the various knocks taking their toll and whether he was still up to it was good. But all that stuff with Blofeld being part of his past or whatever was tosh I thought. Maybe it was just one Bond too many for me.

It'll be interesting to see what they do next though - they could have rebooted the whole thing without killing him off, after all. Killing off Felix for good measure really smacked of clearing the decks I thought. Maybe it's time for no more Bond and another 00 instead, but I can't see that the new/current 007 is going to be the focus from now on, because they didn't really do enough with her to set up that handover IMO.

It isn’t a resurrection though is it, they literally just tell different stories of Bond in a different time. Otherwise Bond would be over 90 years old by now.

Neither can I. Maybe it was the way her part was written or the actress herself but I didnt find her character engaging at all.

Watched a few weeks ago.

Christopher Waltz's performance in Inglorious Bastard's still gives me shivers now - perfect to play the world's biggest baddie.

"OH NO THE NANOBOTS ARE GOING TO GET HIM - HE'S GOING TO TEAR HIS OWN FACE OFF IN SCREAMING PAIN AND AGONY"

"oh....he's meekly slumped over and died"
.
.
.
Female007 might have a license to kill but she didn't have an Equity license.

It’s a pantomime thou, you normally just roll out a different actor who’ll do a slightly different take on it. You don’t normally kill off widow t****ey.

They did a slightly different take by killing T****ey.

I'm with Tom Nichols on this, and seeing as the Empire died decades ago, either cast a geriatric as Bond or just stop making Bond movies.

I hope it’s Cavill next

My money’s on Tom Hardy

I thought Lashana Lynch has been introduced as the latest 007 agent. Or is this going to be a 'Bond' role with perhaps Tom Hardy filling Bond's boots.

No she hasn’t. Remember she handed the number back to Bond. I believe she was brought in as satire towards all those claiming the next bond would have to a black woman for todays PC world.

I think she had 00 status but relinquished his number. No reason she can't be in any future films.

Idris Elba is also in the running.

Not sure. The stuff floating around today was Broccoli saying he was 'part of the conversation' - that conversation could just have been 'he'd be good but he's too old'. Just stoking the hype as far as I can see.

Yeah, don't think the next iteration will be as successful, we just had the full reboot and it was good overall, they had a Bond for 15 years allowing the franchise to move forward without much thought.

But, Elba is 51 just now, same age as Daniel Craig was when he did his last filming for Bond, if he got the nod he'd be 53/54 by the time it comes out, a 3 movie deal would mean he'd be nearly 60 by the end of it, not sure what direction they would be moving in with that, but it's up to the script and the world they create more than anything.

I just don't see many good candidates who would take it on, Hardy isn't going to really sign on to this, Cavill is just in too many other things to do this, and the others are a bit off a fresh start, a la Daniel Craig.

This and other Bond films are free to watch on Amazon Video Prime this weekend, pointed out by member of OCuk.

I've read but not checked that, No Time to Die will be available for at least a year and for some reason the rest of the bond films for only two months. For free that is.

Not sure if thats true, seeing as amazon own MGM now so they own the rights, keeping all the bond films free on prime would make strong business sense in attracting new customers from other streaming services as the bond franchise is massive globally.

On a separate note, watched no time to die last night, really enjoyed it even though I wasn't expecting that ending. A proper James Bond film. Sure theres plot holes and some of it is far fetched, but that's what a james bond movie is meant to be.

If you want realism, go and watch the Bourne movies or something.

Eh? 🤷

I watched it at the cinema and it was ok, i don't think i'll watch it again, even if it's free to me on Prime, it made less sense the more you thought about it, watching it again would mean just being disappointed even more!

The only Daniel Craig Bond film I've bothered to watch a second time was QoS - it's entertaining and well paced, and doesn't disappear up its own **** like the last two did.

Thanks for the free-to-watch tip…just spent the whole evening (with many toilet and drink breaks) watching it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Made me chuckle and made me sad. Good film.

This wasn't where I read it but does corroborate what I'd picked up before. Agree though that it does seem unusual.

I actually tried watching it, fast forward most of the flashback bit, then just gave up with the Italian scenes, honestly still can’t fathom how screenwriters sat down and storyboarded it and didn’t see all the flaws!

I watched it last night. Thought it was ok. Don't think I've seen the previous bond film in its entirety so that didn't help! I enjoyed trying to guess the filming locations.
I think they have set up the next film characters reasonably well with some new introductions on the American side and removing lots of other characters?
