Or are they ...? Please recommend me some stand up comedy for Christmas time stuck with the Swedish inlaws.

One caveat is although their english is perfect, northern accents are a little tough for them. Therefore, Peter Kay is out.

thanks! Edit: Specific show please, i.e later eddie izzard isn't anywhere near as good.

Frankie Boyle. lol.
Or a serious suggestion that's family friendly would be Lee Evans.

So long as they can handle a mild Irish accent Dara O Brien's 'Talks Funny' and 'This Is The Show' are both great.

Much as I love Doug Stanhope I must say I wouldn't watch him with the inlaws, maybe it's just me.

Bill Bailey is funny, surprisingly non-sweary but maybe a bit too UK-centric (Tinselworm & Dandelion Mind)

Chris Rock and Dave Chappell are very American, rude and funny (really interesting stuff about race, drugs and sex) - full "specials" are on youtube

Jim Jefferies is worth it for his brilliant bit about gun control, but maybe not with the inlaws for the ruder/more distasteful stuff. (Similarly, definitely NOT Jim Norton - extremely explicit)

Billy Connelly if they can handle the accent (Live in New York for a fairly recent show)

I'm not linking Stanhope's bit on Keynesian Economic Theory As Applied To Private Sector Independent Contracting.

"You git baggy in your * * and you gotta tongue *** for a livin'"

I'm glad Doug Stanhope is getting a mention, he is my kind of funny.

check out his stand up on Netflix, the sketch about helping euthanize his alcoholic mum (or mom) if you can handle that then everything else is fine...

Milton Jones is clean, as is Tim Vine. They both rely on double meanings for words though so maybe tricky for non native English speakers.

Sean Lock is easy to understand, swearyish (as opposed to Swedish).

Macintyre? Not my cup o' tea but he seems popular.

Pondo knows a few.

Dara O'Braian, Ross Noble, Reginald D Hunter, Stewart Francis, Rich Hall, Mark Steele, Miles Jupp, all seen and loved. On that basis I would have said I'm amongst the most ferociously radio 4 people on the forum but I also saw Jeremy Hardy and left at half time, he was dull.

Dave Gorman is my favourite - mostly on Dave which seems a shame.

steven k amos?

not sure how to spell his name - like chris rock, except funny, non-confrontational and I could listen to him all day.

I know it's hugely subjective but imo that guy's not funny. Not at all.

Tim Minchin, Adam Hills, Rhod Gilbert (maybe not the best for accent mind), Data O'brien, Ed Burn.

Not Steven K Amos, he's just shit, constantly tediously shit.

Sophie Hagen (Danish doing comedy in English)

If you want to watch a DVD of someone - depending on their language skills - you might need to choose someone with similar cultrural refernce points who doesn't do too much word play/pun stuff. you might find Tim Vine/Milton Jones/Jimmy Carr etc too fast and word based.

Someone physical like Lee Evans? (not my favourite)

Tim Minchin is a really good call. Has two shows on Netflix btw

If we're looking at Sophie Hagen then Daniel Simonsen is also worth a punt

Adam Hills happyism is brilliant.

You've got to do that. I'd love to know how his Swedish Chef story is received by people from Sweden.
