I’m planning a family lunch in the above area. I don’t know round there and looking for a good pub to go to. Doesn’t need to be haute cuisine, just decent grub. I’ve googled but a recommendation, if anyone has one, would be nice ☺️ thank you.

Bulls Head in Monyash is decent pub grub. All the usuals you’d expect on a countryside pub menu.

Not that I only go in pubs called the Bulls Head but the one in Ashford in the Water is nice as well.

Or finally (and in keeping with the two above) The Bull in Foolow. Would recommend booking tables for any of them.

I camped in Great Longstone two weeks ago (only 10 miles from home!), we ate once at The Crispin in Great Longstone and the food was very good, Robinson’s beer and lovely staff, only closed on Monday’s I believe and lovely staff. We drank at The Packhorse a few times, (excellent beer) even though it was mostly people eating the staff were very attentive and found two old men and their dogs some space! Booking is probably essential there as it’s small and it may be expensive judging by the cars outside! Direct message if you need anymore info.
The Bulls Head in Ashford was closed on the Saturday when we hiked past…

Thirded.
The cafe next door (The Old Smithy) is a very popular cyclist / motorcyclist stop too.

Bit further north, but we were looking for a pub near Buxton for a family meetup walk/pub lunch the other week and went to the Old Hall Inn near Chinley on a recommendation. Really good. Quality pub-style menu with a few more interesting bits. Good value for what it was. Excellent service.

The The Barrel at Bretton near Eyam is a very nice old pub with a nice atmosphere and good food, the view is not bad either.

We always recommend the 'Old Hall' in Chinley. The Landlord Dan is a keen cycling person. The Sunday roasts are very good.

The Barrel's good but def have to book, bit busy and packed. Red Lion in Litton is good and a bit less earache. Combine Litton with a drink in the iconic Three Stag's Heads.

Was up that way last weekend and went to two places that I’d happily recommend and go back to, though both might be at the slightly fancier end of the pub lunch range (the second one isn’t even really a pub).

Did a cracking Sunday lunch but is quite popular and small so would probably need to book.

Not really a pub at all but it is a pretty good restaurant that we went to on the Saturday night.
