I am looking for something to replace the worn carpet in my lounge.

I live in a ground floor flat and with three bikes I am looking for something that is easy to maintain and will be ok with the occasional drop of oil or dirt being spilt.

I have had a quote to fit Karndean, which has come in at £1600, and I would be happy with this product. However, I was wondering if there is anything cheaper out there that anyone would recommend.

I have had a lot of Karndean laid in my house. It was the cheaper option to Amtico but still came with a good, long, guarantee. We did a lot of research and ultimately decided that Karndean would do everything we wanted and if I happen to walk some mess in.... it won't matter too much. Anyway, we are very pleased with it.

I understand it has to be laid properly, on some sort of latex screed, otherwise it won't last as long, will be uneven etc.

The cheaper alternatives we looked at included 'lino' type products, and if you want to get something hard wearing enough, there is not much price differential.

Oh yes, there are different grades of Karndean, and they have different price tags so you might look at 'lower grade' ones if you want to save money.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Karndean. To be honest I have pretty much decided that Karndean is the best product for me, I'm just reluctant to lay down £1600 on it 😆

I have a fair amount of experience with Karndean as we specify it alot at work for use in houses that are being adapted for disabled clients. I was just wondering what else there is.
