I got all excited then thinking this thread was about eating...that's not what you're trying to suggest you do with the insects is it?
With a one year old crawling around I just want to know what they are, they've been jettisoned into the back garden.

It looks like some sort of maggot (fly larva). Can't be more specific than that I'm afraid.
Look like woodlice to me - quite common - like damp
They are about an inch long, slightly translucent.

We did have a wasps nest in the roof this summer......
I name them Harry and Charles or Charlie. How that sound? 😳
