We will be in touch
Seems eveyone here is getting married soon, well me too, in March.
Looking for some interesting music for my wedding, nothing too commercial. We have a band for the evening and I am really looking for ideas for before, during and after the ceremony and am quite into unusual covers.
So far I have come up with a few that I quite like. (Spotify links)
Blowers Daughter - Scala and Kolacny brothers (Damien Rice)
Use somebody - Mel Vondrau (Kings of leon)
This years love - David gray Instrumental.
You get the idea.
Want something that people will not instantly recognize but know that they know it.
The must be some good covers of classic songs out there?
won't the band just play the songs they normally play?
hi ho silver lining etc
Are they willing to spend time learning to play loads of new material?
this is for the ceremony, not for the evening.
She by Elvis Costello, although perhaps not that much of a difference from the original. A beautiful song though.
oh, got you
some friends of mine got married with "Be My Baby" by the ronettes playing as she walking down the aisle
unfortunately the vanue played it too quiet - and the room was too small for it to really have much impact. But played loud in a church it would sound amazing!

by Eliza Lumley
Great version and would be perfect for a wedding
Come on Eileen by Save Ferris?
Wannabe by Snuff? 😉
Anything by Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies.....

or anything else from that album.
All Saints - Under the Bridge
Futureheads - Hounds of Love
Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine
Bauhaus - Telegram Sam
sunshine of your love always sounds good
Baby i Love You - originally by The Ronettes I think but everyone knows the Ramones version. While the Ramones version is still officially the best, the original might act as an interesting reverse cover, if you know what i mean.
Future Heads - Hound of Love (Kate Bush)
The Last Town Chorus - Modern Love (Bowie)
Both amazing covers

- Stand By Me

The mighty Mr Enigk.
Nina Gordon's version of Straight outta Compton...G'wan, dare you...

William - Vapour Trail
Cover of a Rides shoegazing classic. Would also agree with much of the Nouvelle Vague stuff. Senor Coconut and Easy Star All Stars also for more fun stuff.
just realised you wanted a cover. ah well....

Kil Moon - Ocean breathes salty
Originally by Modest Mouse
Tom Baxter - Better
There are lots of odd covers done by reggae singers - my recent fave that might just fit the bill is Wish you were here by alpha blondy (spotify}
