Or if you like your music a bit simpler how about this. I'm always amazed when anyone can stand in the middle of an empty stage in front of a huge crowd and just grab them

Bruce Cockburn (please ignore the intro)

I wouldn't say Doom was under-rated. Certainly not by those in the know. If the trade off for being "rated" was a more commercial sound from him, I'm happy for him to remain under-rated. His stuff would never be lapped up by Joe Public anyway, but that's a good thing.

Never listened to Bob Dylan, can't even name a song title by him, so not on the radar hence cannot be underrated. i.e. non existence.

Can't tell you how much I loved this band, released a couple of albums but sadly just faded away, I'd love to see them come back.

MF Doom is widely admired.

Shame Nick Drake wasn't better known in his own lifetime.

Wasn't sure but was coldplay a joke? They should be in the "other" thread surely?

And this band should have been massive. They struggled on in the face of indifference from the greater public, until Toni Halliday dissolved the band several years ago. Very sad, great live, and Toni was a great stage presence.

It was only that which referred to you chewkw. The Bob D bit referred to someone up there what posted the Subterranean Homesick Blues vid.

Sorry for confusion. Back to Sat Night Fever eh? (Deja Vue experienced there for some reason)

I'd have to go for The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Mid 90's/early 00's they were at their best (IMHO) - did some great albums and (can be!) great live.

Please have a listen...

There are a lot of bands that I would never consider 'underrated' on here, like the Super Furries. And any post by GlitterGarry is just a troll by a pathetic idiot. Anyone who uses a play on the name of a convicted pedophile as a username is just contemptible.

@ Noteeth and BoardinBob, I nearly said something along the lines of not underrated, but not widely known. I'm kind of suprised that he's not better known to be honest, after the appearance on Demon Days I'd have expected more people to discover him.

If we're talking properly underrated I'd go Kanye West. Widely known, but mostly for stuff outside of his actual music. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the best album I've heard since probably Madvillainy.

Click the vid. It's a Felt fan video that just has a pic of Bob.

Haha, I almost put Kanye in the overrated thread. But I won't argue because this is intended to be a positive happy thread.

I know she has a lot of fans, but why isn't this woman as famous as Kylie? Or at least Dannii?

Totally - I'm no hip-hop purist, but I rarely get tired of listening to his records.

The Black Crowes

Very talented musicians, whatever the line up. Have discovered many other great artists from their live stuff as well.

+1 for Senser, The Stranglers (saw them live at Isle of Wight - amazing) and MF Doom.

Not sure how well Kool G Rap is known outside hip hop circles - amazing, if dark, lyricist.

I could listen to Madvillainy and The Mouse and The Mask on repeat. Just brilliant.

That Brian Jonestown massacre sounds like it was about 6 years too late. Sounds similar to earlier Spacemen3, Ultra Vivid Scene, Sonic Boom, Primal Scream type stuff.
