I'm heading to Morzine at the weekend for 3 days of riding and cannot find a clear answer on a couple of questions I have around lift passes.

Do you need to pre-book them online or can you turn up and pay on the day?
Is there any benefit in buying them ahead of time?
What pass would you recommend, individual passes per day or the multi-pass access all areas one?

Thanks

Pay on the day

Multi-pass is only if you want to use stuff like the swimming pool etc. In 12+ years of annual trips to Morzine, I've never bothered with the multi-pass

Seems you save about £8 on a weekly pass if booked in advance. Not sure I'll bother lol

Depends if you’re going back.  We MTB & ski, book the passes on line and get the odd free day or free parking in the winter.

Based on my experience last week I'd definitely pay on the day - mainly because the weather was very unpredictable.

There are several options of pass - ones for 'local' areas or ones that cover the whole of the PDS. There's also one that works for 5 hours from the time you first use it - useful for half a days riding if rain is forecast or if it suddenly stops!

There's also pass that gives you a specified number of lift rides (6?)

Oh - and you get a discount if you're over 65!!

Brilliant, thanks all. That's really good to know as I nearly bought the full PDS pass for the 3-days.

The weather looks mixed on Friday but Sat/Sun look sunny and dry so hopefully we'll get some good days riding.

Last Q, where do you buy the passes from when you're there?

Thanks

There is a ticket office at the bottom of the major lifts - so in Morzine at the bottom of Pleney and Super Morzine lifts - there's a ticket office and also self service machines (that work in English!)

It’s still fun in the rain/mud. Particularly the steep bits. No need to not ride just because it’s wet.

It’s just the lighting storms with malteser sized hail stones that can stop play.

They're some of the most fun rides I've had.

I once did a week in Morzine where it rained for 18 hours a day. That was a bit much to be honest, but the riding was hilarious.

Yup. That happened to me in 2011. That week was the end of my original 5:10s.

And put my wife off Morzine for a few years.
