Hi, I would like to go camping with four other friends for Easter weekend. Preferably close to Edinburgh but we don't really want a million other hikers and campers around (maybe this is too much to ask at Easter?)

Also, would be nice if it was close(ish) to the car. Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's not really wild camping if you have a car..... 🙄

Suggestions? Leave the beer, leave the car, go for a pedal/walk/proper trip, and take everything home again.

Lammermuirs? Hills just south of Peebles? Somewhere like the Pentlands will be busy I guess...

Yea, I was thinking of the Lammermuirs. And that guide book looks cool.

It cannot be too far from the car as we have two children (aged 3 and 4 years) in the group.

Thanks for your help.

digthedogs - we have a very similar query last year (no kids though)- I pointed someone to ninemileburn. I'll see if I can dig that up - but thats sufficiently far out of town to be remote (and properly wild) but still near parking / civilisation.

Bear with me,.....

What about the Lomonds in Fife?

This is what I was thinking of:

If I ever persuaded missus to camp again - this is where we'd start.

I wild camped near Traquair. Lots of quiet spots in the forest just off the road towards the Gordon Arms.

Lammermuirs. It'd be cool.

Try parking here and walking upstream a bit.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I think I will check out the Lammermuirs or the Pentlands.

I was just thinking today that there's some really nice looking bits of woods just east of Cap Law. Maybe a bit too close to the farmhouses though.
