I know there are a few classic car lovers on here and I have had a few people asking me how I'm getting on with the MGB, so I will give you all a little update.

I have named her Penelope and I have been running her every day for about a month now. It can take a bike in the back and it’s a dream to drive. I love the sound and the engine feels really nice.

I have had a few minor problems: Brakes setting on fire and a leaky fuel pipe but apart from that it seems sound.

I have replaced a few minor parts too, got a nice alloy rocker cover and some K&N filters, also tuned the engine and done the timing.

I still need to: sort out the heater I think it is only blocked vents, have a look at the rust – it’s only a small amount under the paint nothing on the sills or chassis but still a priority and possibly give it a re spray as the paintwork is a bit shabby.

If anyone can give me some tips for getting rid of rust it would be very helpful.

Hopefully not at the same time..

Good for you- to be honest I thought it could only end in tears- glad to be proved wrong..
