As title
Saw one today, never really noticed them but thought they look okay.
Not touching diesel, so would be looking at 1.7 auto 2007/8
Any thoughts/advice gladly taken
Nice car, my dad had a 2009 B180 and now has a 2015 B200. The newer model (2011 on) is much nicer to drive and has a better interior imho. I know you dont want a diesel but they are really economical depending on your type of journeys. I've had 70mpg on a motorway run from the B200. I think all the time he had the B180, living in London at the time, that averaged out around the mid 40mpg. Apart from servicing costs both have been completely trouble free.
I had one 59reg 180, manual.
Lovely car to drive about in, mine was the Avantguarde BlueTec start stop thingy, had all the toys fitted (sunroof, rainsensing wipers etc. Etc.) Used as a second car for over a year and only fault was a rear brake light sensor causing the "check brake lights and ABS" light warning light to flash. Part was £35 and cost £40 to fit, but you could do it yourself as it's a common fault (mine fitted under warranty) also the drivers front brake pads rub on the disc and squeal, Bt just take em' out and copper grease the rear of them and thier fine (another Merc trait)
Only thing I would say is they are not very good on fuel, 40mpg (but more like 35) if you do the random local journeys and at best 45 on a run.
Lovely car though, I bought mine after an A class I traded in
I had one, a 2010 B180 CDI. Great for bikes, it would take a wheelless road bike upside down in the boot without dropping the seats.
Ah yea, I could get a roadie in the back with the seats flat with wheel on, but I would lie it down. Could also get it to stand up wheels off against the side of the passenger door, leaving a cavern of space for other crap.
You can't fold the front seat totally flat, it'll wind backwards and take the headrest off and its almost there, but not quite.
I took four adults in it on a long trip to Berwick on Tweed, only gripe I had was "can we stop for a wee" rather than anything the car did.
They are surprising quiet to drive, great driving position as its higher than you'd expect.
Popular family cars due to higher seating (less back bending with young kids) and good interor space. Family members have one and like it very much.
B200 CDI Sport Auto 2006
Honestly, we have not enjoyed this car at all.
Sits low to the ground so going over speed hump causes the belly pan to scrape - and then caused a hole which over time filled up with about 2 bucket loads of soil from all the trips to local trails!
Suspension very stiff. Broken spring once as well.
Had issues with CV joints crumbling.
Sounds like a tractor.
Random electrical issues - like radio or dash not working until car restarted.
Very light / vague steering.
Overall, very disappointed. The newers ones look nicer but we aren't getting another.
Ouch
Cant say any of those issues you had I experienced.
Well this is timely. I've decided today my 2000 Passat Estate probably has to go. I've been looking around and the Merc B seems a decent car for not a great deal of money secondhand. One slight issue is finding something that will take a cello in a hard case with the luggage cover in place!
I liked them when the 2011 on shape arrived but they've become like the Volkswagen Golf around here, see them everywhere.
Well, maybe we have just been unlucky.
Oh, I forgot one. It stalls when it's very cold (remember, it's an auto). Had it looked at and Merc specialist couldn't find a fault.
Anyway, I'm sure it is fine.
Anyone want to buy a B Class? Only dont 99k miles. Plenty of life left in her yet. 😉
£3.16 and a Mars bar?
