I did a short bike trip last night (about 18 miles) around where I live (near leeds) which I recorded on my garmin etrex vista
the garmin confirmed it was 18 miles and i "saved" the track
when I downloaded the track onto memory map the journey suddenley became 5,500km! all but the last 29kms was the leg from waypoint 1 to waypoint 2
the location of waypoint 1 was something like 0 degrees 00.000'S 0 degrees 00.000W - any idea what caused this?
i was able to get around this problem by converting to a track and then after lots of scrolling I was able to delete waypoint 1
is there another way of deleting waypoint 1 without scrolling to find it on the map?
This has hapened several times and becoming quite a nuisance
any suggestions how I prevent it?
thanks
You can open the gpx file in a text editor and delete the waypoint that way
if you save the route/track in .gpx format, you can open it with a text editor and remove the offending line - it's XML so reasonably obvious human-readable. Then reload the edited version.
