MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
My cycle buddy came off his bike practicing jumps
and landed on his back side.
A few days later had pains in his Left leg
that go worse.
He went to Physio and gave him Traction for the Siatic nerve
(Peroformis?) But no joy.
Hes now been given an oppointment for a back scan.
The Physio are talking surgery
But he went to a private Physio whom I recommended
and had given him various exercise to do and said that
if you can run and do the various exercises and still can
work and able to lift his tool boxes etc without pain, then you
have done a small amount of damage to your disc But should not
need surgery just the correct treatment for the disc.
He has Siatic nerve pains mainly when he stands up after sitting down
and now and again when walking, He only has a stretching exercise to do
to help the pain. And not yet been back in the saddle has they say the
rocking motion will make it worse.
Has anyone had this or knowledge of or what is to come?
It depends..I had sciatia for about 6 months with a range of conflicting medical and physio opinion about what to do and what was causing it.
The disc that I guess was causing the problem then ruptured and I was in agony (I could't sit and could barely stand). I then didn't surgery to remove part of the disc but 14 months later I'm now fine (ish).
I would try the exercises recommended but get my GP to get an MRI scan, that will show the extent of the damage, and then a referral to a specialist.
He is in pain but hasn't seen a doctor? Start by seeing his own GP. Then he can get reassessed and get some decent painkillers.
Thanks Kiril But did or did'nt have surgery?
And what exercises did you have to do to get over the problem?
glad your better mate really do.
Stumpytrek where we live you can go straight to Physio
without needing to see the GP, but seems a visit is becoming a
must now.
Sorry! Did have surgery..I now have pilates exercises..
The issue was some practioners said it was piriformis, some spinal alignment, some slipped disc....
So I didn't know who to believe, but when it went I knew it! The MRI showed it REALLY clearly
Thanks again Kiril for reply
How long was you off work from surgery and do you still cycle

Sorry for questions poor old matey just needs some answers
Thak you.
Thank you for the info Cheers 😉
