A British Chap would never eat jam at breakfast! Marmalade all the way. Lime if possible.

+1. Nasty bitty stuff.

Maybe a ponce would eat a preserve originating in the Mediterranean, but Jam is definitely a more indigenous foodstuff...

Food of the gods. An absolute pain to make (all that tiresome cutting up of orange peel) but you really can taste the difference.

"Aga Toast (white bloomer, fresh baked)/Butter (Yeo Valley Organic)/Orange Thick Cut Marmalade and a fresh pot of Taylors Italian Roast Coffee.."

Home-made toasted organic stoneground spelt bread, home-made thick cut marmalade, locally-made butter and a flat-white with double-shot from the Gaggia.

Jam is definitely a more indigenous foodstuff...

Living in a wattle and daub hut and crapping in a hole in the ground and eating root vegetables is also a bit more indigenous to Brits. However, I'll bet you don't complain about what those Romans did for us. Second thoughts, you probably do, being a downtrodden salt of the earth type and all that.
