The mail is all there in the inbox but if you click on it , it won't open.
Have quit mail and it works for a couple of clicks , then no more.
Any ideas?
Interested in answers to this. I've had the same for a while but assumed it was just because my MacBook is so old it won't run the latest OS.
Reboot?
Aside from Outlook for work email, I've exclusively used webmail for at least the last decade. Is that an option for you?

Check for updates in settings.

In many years of Macs and MacOS I’ve only had one Mac Mail problem. A mangled index for IDK what reason.
If the problem persists then you could roll Mail back to a time when it did work using Time Machine.
Rebuild seems to have fixed it.
Far easier than trying to get a Gmail icon in the dock bar.
