We rode there yesterday and it's completely midge free atm.

However was speaking to some people in the know and they said because of the harsh winter, the lavae ( hope I've got that right) will have been struck down with the low temperatures, thus being lower numbers of midges this year.
Hope that makes sense.

Dumfries isn't too far for a good pint or 2 and you can pick up a good ale guide in the tourist office in Dumfries.

Midge Free @ Mabie at the moment, see.

The Mabie House hotel serves beer and is rather plush. There's walking and stuff for families, and a skills area if your kids are bikers. Marthrown Of Mabie have a high ropes course and climbing wall and stuff, they're bang in the middle of the forest.

Was up there friday night on a muggy evening and there was midges alright. More annoying than a problem, would recommend SSS or alternative from now on.
