Trying to cheer ourselves up a bit after everything (including sisters wedding) has been cancelled in 2020, by booking something for next spring

Can anyone recommend a really nice cottage in either Ullapool or Cairngorms area. Must have good views, some amenities within reasonable (driving) distance. Walkable pub would be good.

Fantastic mtb trails from the doorstep would be excellent!

Thanks but we're after a luxury cottage, not a wooden lodge or caravan 🙂

How many people/how big a place do you want?

Cottage guide is my usual favourite

Dont look up guide to cottaging though.

That's a more specific hobby

Having seen this being worked on a few years ago, it looks stunning...

Fails the pub walkability test.

On the outskirts of Aviemore, pub within 20 mins walk, trails out the door according to trailforks.

I believe Wildbike have used this place for their Cairngorms trips.

Two people, not fussed about the size of the cottage but enough room to comfortably cook and chill out if the weather isn't great.

£800ish for the week, could go higher if it's something really good.

Pub walkability is a nice luxury but not a deal-breaker. Good views etc more important

That last one was previously called Tranquility Base 🙂

Friends of mine almost bought it but there were (are?) issues about ownership of the access road.

Here you go.

Two pubs (Pine Marten and Glenmore Lodge) just minutes away. Views of the Northern Corries. All the riding and walking (and swimming and paddling you can eat, right from the door. Your neighbours are reindeer.

I’ve known these guys for thirty years, they have three well appointed cottages near Blair Atholl, just on the edge of the Cairngorms

Not famed for a wide selection of MTB trails though.

Thanks for the shout up there @ Bruneep.

OP - my mate stayed in a fantastic place out east a few years back. I’ll dig out the details from him later.

If Skye is an option I can recommend this place. Just a short stumble down to the brilliant Old Inn at Carbost and also the Talisker distillery.
