Does anyone know the speed limit of the A525 when you turn right out of the llandegla car park up to the next junction with the Moors In pub on?
Wife got a ticket last Sunday but the notice doesn’t say the speed limit (just that she was doing 49mph) and we do not remember seeing any speed limit signs on the road. I’ve looked on street view and there are no signs.
Country road with no signs I would assume national speed limit?
What do you guys think? Stand a chance of contesting it? Anyone else been done along there?
She’s pretty gutted and upset about it as she is a proper captain cautious with her speed, always uses the cars limiter and hasn’t had points of an accident in 10 years of driving.
I'll be dead honest with you id have thought that was a 60 too, I'm going next weekend and without meaning to be a knob your wife's error has certainly given me a heads up.
Pretty new sign on that stretch (pointing the other way) suggests NSL (at least in 2011).
A lot of those road in that part of Wales have been taken down to 50 because of nutters, but unless they've given her the wrong location in the ticket, can't see how that would be a 40.
Temporary speed limit for roadworks?
If you're going to fight it, get over there and make sure there aren't roadworks which haven't been properly signed, take photos etc.
Definitely no road works, there were three of us leaving over the space of 15 minutes, the other two cars turned right at the pub but we carried on through. They didn’t get done (slowly to make the turn), none of them saw signs or road works either.
It’s a 2.5 hour drive over there - still worth heading over?
As I said few of use going over on Saturday so can save you the trip if you like. Don't think I've ever seen a speed camera in temporary works on single carriage way roads.
Bad news mate just seen this on Google maps.

That may not be legally enforceable without matching roadside signs.
Quite a few crashes on that road, 40 for a reason then
I'm not up on the legalities of it but that big 40 painted on the road is a good indicator for the op. It's also on the road to the left of the entrance. If it's a 100 quid fine and points or a course I'd probably suck it up rather than spend time looking for road signs etc.
Wrightyson, that would be really handy thank you. She got done just before the junction with the Moors Inn on, if you could see if there are signs along that stretch in the direction from Llandegla to the pub and report back that would be great.
She’s pretty relieved that it’s probably a 40 and not a 30 - thanks for the investigation chaps. If you think it’s iffy when you’re there let me know, our next wales trip is BPW so not passing near there at all.
Speed limit changes from National to 40mph about 1/2 mile before the pub so she's bang to rights. Fairly recent change, but I guess its to stop cars going up someones trumpet while they are waiting to turn right at the pub junction
Fair do’s Shinton - we’d done a course for the day with Al Bond so she was pretty wiped and must have just missed it, no excuse but at least she can pay it and move on knowing it’s a ligit catch and not keep questioning it.
On a side note, highly recommend doing a days training with Al if anyone’s looking to force some progression on the bike.
The stretch at the cross roads is 40, signs and road markings are there
I'm just back ( this morning ) ..from a speed awareness course and if she is given the option of doing one of these ( rather then points ) then it's well worth doing ..
I did one ten years ago ..and there are some ( not un-subtle ) changes ..the actual course itself is completely new ..this was the first time the course leaders had taken the revised version ..
Thanks Hodgyn, she’ll take the course if they give her the option. My business partner did one a few years back and he actually enjoyed it and learnt quite a lot. Hoping she has to do it near Llandegla so I can go for a ride while she does the course!!
