Deluded grifter doing grifting

So this is Truss takeaway from Trumps time in office:

Liz Truss has endorsed Donald Trump to win this year's US presidential election, saying the "world was safer" when he was in the White House.

I'm not sure which planet she was on at the time but that's not how I remember his 4 years as president...

What the **** are the BBC doing giving that oxygen thief any airtime? I'm sure in her head it confers some kind of relevance/endorsement. They should be ashamed of themselves. Who are they going to wheel in for balance from the opposition? That idiot Corbyn?

^^ I have no idea why anyone would value any opinion she has. She proved on the world stage she has no credible opinions any reasonable person would be interested in.

She has absolutely no insight into her own failings, even Nixon basically turned his back on the world after his downfall.

She's just a political grifter, the same as the likes of Farrage or Anderson... they have no politics, they are just trying to make money, and to be fair,  mostly being semi-sucessfull at doing so.

Calm down ......I for one enjoyed reading the BBC article about Liz Truss, I thought it was excellent.

I  liked how when reporting Truss's endorsement of Trump they pointed that "Her comments came as the first of Mr Trump's four criminal trials began in New York."  After they had reminded their readers that she was "the UK's shortest-serving prime minster".

I also loved how she hates the OBR so much, especially as it was created by a Tory government!

I found the whole article hugely entertaining.

Well I have just seen the BBC interview and the only people I can think of who might be upset about the publicity that Liz Truss is getting would be members of the Conservative Party.

The last thing the Tories need as the next general election gets ever closer is for voters to be reminded of Liz Truss's disastrous premiership.

I also think that it's great that she hasn't ruled out standing for the Tory leadership again. Senior Tories must be groaning in disbelief and Labour must be wondering what they have done to deserve such good luck.

That's a nice line for Labour "Remember, whatever Tory leader you're voting for today, they might just replace them with Liz Truss halfway through for a laugh"

Lol, look at the quote from Truss at the top of todays Telegraph. 😉

Yep, the whole world is stupid. She's the only genius here.

She seems to be on a personal mission to blot out any last vestige of reality from her weird little world

Given her track record, it’s not hard to see why. Looks like the Guardian were right with their predictions though …

Senior Tories fear Johnson and Truss will sabotage Sunak’s election campaign

Neither of them seeming to realise that a period of STFU would probably be best advised from both of them

It gets worse:

She really is thick as ****.

It's like Maureen from the Commons canteen got to play PM for a month (no disrespect to the Maureens out there, they perform a valuable role).

Deluded doesn’t do it justice.

Caught part of the Newscast interview on last nights news, and couldn't believe how dangerously deluded she sounded.  Thought the interviewer let her skewer herself nicely.

Genuinely made me think that Boris wasn't so bad. Then I slapped myself.

It wouldn’t be for Liz. The rumor is that all the libertarian wing nuts who fund Tufton Street and the like have told her that she’ll be cut off if she goes quietly into the night because her premiership proved how batshit crazy their economic theories are.

I was expecting Truss to have a very weird childhood that someone explained her search for attention and identity. Wikipedia is not very detailed but she seems to have moved around a bit including, bizarrely: "In 1977 Truss and her parents moved to Warsaw, but returned to Britain after [parents] John and Priscilla found it "quite grim"" What???

“She also strikes me as a Katie Hopkins type,”

That’s the grift effect…

I wonder how her own husband and kids feel about this. Shameless, along for the ride, concerned, equally deluded?

As mad as she is, theres fertile ground for populists out there, plenty of people love blaming the unelected quangos & civil service for the failure of their ideologies to deliver what they promised.

Her 'Save the West ' 3 word slogan is the perfect dog whistle, was out with a riding mate last week who assured me that within a decade we'd all be living in isolated ghettos (he also thinks a trump win would be for the best.)

This looks very much like her positioning herself for her post politics career, hut unbelievably she's almost certain to be re-elected as she has a huge majority on a very blue constituency (wo ups live to see her lose it though!)

The BBC are playing lots of Lizzies batshit crazy observations on the world this morning.

I’m pretty sure Rishi’s Downing Street operation is presently considering a Putin style ‘accident’ to befall the former PM

Unfortunately she now appears to fancy herself as a rent-a-gob media commentator. Surely joining her grifting colleagues on the GB News gravy train is a given?

She still will not acknowledge any responsibility, let alone apologise for the car crash of her Premiership and is doubling down on the batshit ‘wokerati’ conspiracy theories.

The Bank of England and various other renowned lefties did for her, apparently

This is not some Alan Partridge style spoof. This is for real 😳

She still will not acknowledge any responsibility,

It must be tricky. Imagine you were completely dedicated to free markets being the source of everything good and perfection.

Then you finally get to put your plans into action and the markets shit their pants.

You can either abandon your ideology (the spiked lot are a good example of this careening all the way across to market fundamentalism from marxism after the fall of the soviet block) or conclude that someone was cheating.

Caught a bit of her interview on 5-Live this morning where she was talking about the upcoming changes to tobacco and vaping. Apart from completely deluded she sounded either drunk or high. Either that or she is having a serious episode of some sort.

Agree with her getting airtime though as a reminder that the Tories actually elected the intellectual void as leader and prime minister!

She thinks autocracy is a bad thing, and then says

"In short, she thinks power of judicial appointments should lie with elected politicians."

Isn't what she says about heading down that rocky road?

Yeah, she rails against the ‘Nanny State’ and spouts her usual libertarian ‘we should be allowed to do whatever we like’ drivel, then 5 minutes later she’s rattling off all the stuff she wants stopped or banned.

As thick as a Boxing Day turd

When my daughter was about 2 years old we found her sat on the floor in her room holding a bunch of crayons, with a lovely new crayon drawing on the wall. She said her stuffed rabbit did the drawing. Fair enough, she was 2 years old. Liz Truss is an actual adult.

The full interview is staggering. It is like she has asked for a list of things that most rational people think, then set out to say the opposite. Pro Trump, for removal of power from Civil Servants, anti media, anti woke, anti Bank of England. Pro Israel, anti net zero, pro Boris.  The list just goes on and on and she doesn't care if one thought contradicts the next, there is no cohesion of thinking, just a load of populist box ticking.

I don't for one second believe that these are her firmly held views. As said above, she is just grifting, looking for money through books, columns, interviews and US talk shows. The Katie Hopkins comparison is a good one.

Thick as mince 🤦‍♂️

From the BBC interview last night it's clear that she is the living embodiment of 14 years of cuts to the mental health care budget.

@franksinatra

she is just grifting

I can't remember where, but I read a great essay by a political scientist who was arguing that for a lot of right wing "policies" the grift is the whole point. ie they're chosen based on their ability to elicit donations from people rather than on any ideological basis. Gun control and abortion being two of them.

My mum's partner, an otherwise perfectly normal/sensible chap whom I love dearly has been captured by this version of the conservatives. He thinks Liz Truss is the coming messiah* We avoid politics for both our sakes.

*well, not really, but he's very keen on the way she "shakes things up"

Having just listened to the whole interview, the woman is clearly absolutely barking mad!

She’s a tinfoil-helmeted, delusional, extremist  maniac!

That someone as obviously deranged as her could become PM on the back of the votes of a few thousand swivel-eyed loons, no matter how briefly, is completely terrifying!

To be fair, I think that level of absolute public humiliation would cause anyone some psychological problems.

At least the rest of us, if we make a massive **** up after receiving a promotion, the worst that happens is that our company knows about it, and that's bad enough to deal with. Imaging doing it on the world stage.

The problem with unelected leaders is that they've never been tested in an election campaign, and so there's a higher probability that they'll be rubbish IMO.

@nickc - I believe that The Telegraph has a concerted campaign to rehabilitate her, probably because as it is, she's disproved a whole bunch of their pet economic theories in one fell swoop.

It seems to me that lots of decent Conservatives haven't realised how far right a) their press has become and b) the Conservative Party has followed.

Line of the interview from Chris Mason, when she was moaning about being undermined by the ‘London Elite’ …

“oh come off it., it’s not just people in London wine bars that are concerned that the Prime Minister was outlasted by a lettuce!”

She went to Oxford Uni to study PPE and has, since then, worked in London based industry and Westminster government, rising to become PM. Surely she is the very definition on London elite.

Its the same with all of them. Johnson, Cummings, Farage and co.

They might have a country house for weekends but ultimately they are part of the London elite.

Johnson and Cummings get the bonus of complaining about the media elite whilst also being part of that circle.

It's a form of cognitive dissonance - be part of the Elite while simultaneously proclaiming yourself to be a Man of the People.

Farage in particular is very good at it, pictured smoking and drinking in pubs just like the Common Man, railing against the Elites.

But actually being one of those Elites.

It's a way of making an invisible enemy of Elites but you're not one of Them, you're a Man of the People. But you are absolutely one of Them.

One long grift.

I had a chuckle of recognition at someone on the radio saying she has a serious case of whatever the inverse of imposter syndrome is...that's probably as polite a thing you could say about her at the moment! Negligent Narcissism?

'Elite' in the right wing populist context is just a kneejerk piece of vocab trolled out automatically, along with anything ending in 'for' or 'of the British people'.
