I've been approached about a job with an automotive company in Roermond, Limburg. It's close to Belgium and Germany, which offers an interesting range of places to live. Is there anybody on STW living near(ish) there who i can reach for advice?

In 2010, i spent 5 months in Eindhoven and spent a fair amount of time cycling around NL.

I have a humble little place in Belgium, but having just looked at the map, it's too far away for me to comment on the southern Netherlands.

That said, I have spent a fair bit of time in Aachen, and a good friend of mine went to uni there. It seems like a fantastic place, and only 60kms away.

Then again, looking at pictures of Roermond, it looks pretty darn nice too. Are you just looking at options right now? Or is Roermond too expensive?

Lived just over the German border near Monchengladbach for a couple of years. Really handy area of Europe and pretty central to get to bigger cities if that is your thing.
Can't think that there would be much mountain biking though as is very flat around there.
Roermond is quite a small, quaint typical Dutch town, very inoffensive.

Relative lives in the netherlands. Visited this summer. Its really really boring. Like, more boring than I could ever have imagined a place could be. Would drive me insane if I had to live there. OK that was the north not the south.

Did I mention it was boring?

I used to live in Eersel, another little village on the Belgian Border.
To be honest?
I loved it.
Great little place, with good routes to anywhere, I’d move back there in a heartbeat.
