2 for £2 tastes pretty good to me but I'm guessing any artisan baker will call it an imposter
It's nice bread. Makes decent toast with a proper bite to it.
I thought it was ok - a bit doughy from my local lidl.
Problem is once you have a sour dough from Hart's Bakery in Bristol.....
Lidl bread is good, arty baker out the back is better, but at 6 quid a loaf, I'll stick wi lidl thanks.
It’s bloody lovely and that’s all that matters.
Hart's sourdough, worth every penny 👍
Compliment it with Lidl’s rasp jam for extra deliciousness.
Earl - if you’re in the right neck of the woods, Bertha’s Pizza also knock out a mean batch of sourdough on Saturday mornings about 11am.
Interesting. I enjoyed Tesco sourdough better than one at 40% more from a local deli.
There's a local bakery selling at £3 also, lovely.
Sourfaux
Meh, I don't care TBH. It's cheap, it's nice and I can buy it locally. It stands up well to the rigours of Saturday beans on toast!
Edit: thinking about it, I can't think of a single independent bakers near us. 🙁
Lidl is OK but I prefer the Tesco one myself. The Waitrose and M&S offerings are pretty poor IMO. None of the supermarket offerings I've tried are sourdough, they look and taste like they're yeast raised with (at best) a bit of levain bunged in to help the flavour a bit.

We've 2 one is shite the other is not too bad but not good enough for the extra cost to be used regularly.

There's an indy in my village, their "sourdough" doesn't have any discernible sourdough character about it, the supermarket offerings are way better. Otherwise it's a decent bakery though.
It doesn't taste tangy enough IMO. I don't think I'd pick it as sourdough in a blind tasting. But I'm fortunate enough to have two outstanding bakeries nearby.
It's nice bread. We like it. Doesn't taste like soughdough at all to me though. Local bakery is twice the price, but also twice the size… and is soughdough.
I just had Asda best sourdough today with strawberry jam. Not bad to be fair, beats my local waitrose one.

I brought a loaf back from the market last year it was bloody delicious.
'tis
They can't make bagels though.
Re:Berthas pizza in Wapping Warf Bristol, our younger daughter works in there and often brings home a loaf of their sourdough when there is some left over. Is ver good 🙂
If you're in LIDL you need to buy the Brie de Meaux- best cheese ever
The croissants are good too.
I enjoyed Tesco sourdough better
Now i thought Tesco’s was terrible. The Lidl sourdough doesn’t have a lot of flavour but the texture is good and it makes great toast. The low GI cob is tasty too.
An artisan baker has just opened up 3 doors down from our Lidl. their Sourdough is much larger, and it might be the real thing, but its £4.20 for their Sourdough.
Lidl sourdough is good but doesn't beat Peel & Stone in Harbourne or Maison Mayci in Moseley (their corn bread is also amazing)
